I attended a lobby day with Colorado Care Workers Unite (CCWU) on Valentine’s Day at the Denver State Capitol. We talked with our representatives urging them to support the upcoming Home Health Workforce Stabilization Act. The bill is still being written and will be introduced in the next two weeks.
The bill is sponsored by Senator Jessie
Danielson, Majority Leader Monica Duran and House Representative Jenny
Willford. The act will establish a board housed at the Colorado Division of
Labor and Employment (CDLE) composed of key stakeholders: workers, clients,
home care agencies and government to make recommendations to the Colorado
legislature and Administration to stabilize the home care workforce. The board
requires direct engagement with frontline workers and clients across the state.
This is a great first step towards ending the
care worker crisis! Please contact your state representatives and ask them to
support the Home Care Workforce Stabilization Act.
